Remember that time at the pool? It was one of the hottest days of the summer. You loved me so much that day. I just felt it from the taste of your lips. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other. Every lustful eye was staring at us. Doing everything in that pool but sex. We saved that part for later. The civilians at the pool were fascinated by the undeniable attraction we had for one another. There were nights you poured your heart out to me. I just sat & listened most nights. Sometimes I would stare into the windows of your soul. You’d blush & ask why was I staring at you like that. I’d play it cool and tell you that you were precious to me. But truthfully i knew I had to let you go at some point.

I asked God for a sign.
It came to me in the form of a dream.
Astral Projection of me gazing through the sky.
The sun began piercing through the clouds to greet me.
I heard a voice.
What side of average am I?
A man is judged by the fruits of his labor.
Look at yourself, Hows your fruit?
Some good, Some bad.
More good than bad.
But how could I be perfect?
Is there such thing?
The Sharp Wind cuts through the silence
In that silence came a voice
A familiar Voice, The right voice.
No one can be perfect.
Even if they were perfect.

JULY
A Rainy Tuesday In July
At a far I seen her walking down from the building she worked at in downtown. Coming to meet me on her lunch break. Immediately I noticed her well put together outfit. All black blazer matching the somewhat loose dress pants she was wearing. Walking under her pink umbrella complementing her ravishing black skin. It was raining 2 days straight nonstop. I didn’t mind it though. The breeze was welcoming for a summer day that didn’t feel like summer at all.
I seen her looking for me once she arrived. I saw her but she didn’t see me. I stayed put with the glass of wine I ordered waiting for her arrival. She then saw me sitting at the far right corner. I got up to greet her then proceeded to give her a gentle hug. We sat down across from each other exchanging eye contact. My eyes admired the light glam she had persciously placed on her exquisite brown face. Also complimenting her beautiful black skin. She immediately complemented my scent. Which was a silent victory. Only because I nearing the choice chose of 600 black instead of the cologne I was currently wearing..
(The move by Mercedes Benz. )
I then noticed the Prada logo on bottom of the heals she was wearing ,complementing the business professional look she had.
She asked me how long I was in town for. I gazed at her lipstick print on the rim of her wine glass before giving her an answer. I listened closely to the Frank Sinatra lyrics playing in the background. It was a perfect marriage with the sound of the soothing rain in the middle of July.
I leave tomorrow night I replied, then sipped out of my own glass of wine. I ordered the house Red. I can tell by her body language, she wished that I could stay longer. “Do you have a girlfriend out west?” I nod my head no. It was hard for her to believe I wasn’t sharing myself with other women. I was still letting go of the last connection. A connection so strong but pained so vicious.. A kind of love I would wish for no man

Alone with God
Alone with God
Last night I had a dream that I was born again. Not in the sense of becoming born again in a religion. But actually born again. Here I was a brand new infant, but nothing seemed new to me. The doctors, hospital lights. The warmth of my mother’s breast.
its like I’ve been here before. A series of deja vu. All I could think to myself was oh God. Not this shit again. Why am I here again? Why am I starting this life all over? Was there a lesson that I missed? Was there something that I needed to relearn? I cried & cried for three days straight, but no one could hear me. I fussed and fought all night. Nobody paid me any mind. I was helpless as I laid there in my cradle. Hearing the cold winter rain colliding on the window made me think about my life previous.
A plethora of thoughts rushed my tiny brain. Thoughts of my adolescent years in grade school began to dominate my thoughts. The teachers, the vibrant colors surrounding the classroom became so vivid. Voices of my peers laughing and playing kept me calm. I even thought of my best friend at the time. His name was rich. And how we were so inseparable during our youth. Then I immediately came back to the present moment and wondered how he was doing. And how come we never stayed close after high school. Someone I considered my brother. In my life previous I just thought to myself. People just outgrow each other and that’s life I guess. But I couldn’t help but to think if there was anything I could have done to kept our friendship going. Then I thought about Tonya. My first love. And how she was perfect in my eyes at the time. And how close our parents were. So the transition of families would’ve been a piece of cake. Her skin so dark and rich like Godiva chocolate. Her teeth as white as snow. Her smile was infectious. She was untouched and trusted me to give her body to. And how at some point I knew she would be my wife. But somewhere down the line, I let my lust & curiosity for other women get the best of me.
Laying in this cradle I think to myself. Was there anything I could’ve done to salvage my relationship with her. Then I thought of my father. And how I was his only male heir. How he was an upright man of God. And I was the opposite. In love with climax. mingled up in things that served me no good. I wondered to myself if I let him down and would he ever admit that I let him down. He probably wouldn’t. Still here I was drowning in my thoughts that I could do nothing about. If only I could go back in time and change things I thought to myself. Then I heard a voice. As I stared into the ceiling from my cradle. The voice said. You can only start from the beginning and not the middle or the end. I grew more frightful. I started to cry for my mother. But no one came. The voice appeared again. This time more mightier then before. Would you like to start over and undo all that you’ve done? Answer NOW said the voice. No matter how hard I tried the words weren’t coming out of my mouth. Im just an infant for godsake I thought. Your wrong the voice responded. Your not just an infant. You understand everything. You know what you’ve done said the voice. Then I cried out with tears streaming down my cheeks., what is it that you want from me? What is it that you need me to do? All I could hear was an echo of silence. Tell me what is it that you want from me and I’ll do it. Still no answer. Then I thought of saying that I’d be willing to start my life over from the beginning. But then I thought about all the adventures and the journeys and mistakes & relationships I made along the way. And how everything I’ve experienced shaped me into the man I am today.
Even if the best thing for me was to start over I couldn’t. I couldn’t Take another lesson or another heartbreak. Regardless of my regrets, I was full with this life. And couldn’t take another bite of it. If I was to start over that means undoing all the joy & laughter that came along with it. The bonds and cherished relationships I possessed. The bit of good that I did sprinkle into the world, all of this had meaning. I was content I thought to myself. “And so it is” Said the voice. Then I immediately awoke in my king sized bed in a puddle of sweat a full sized man.

It’s happening again! The coming & going, the over indulging in shenanigans orchestrated by heathens. I often find myself Surrounded by lust demons. In love with my potential & captivated by the windows of my soul. They creep in the night in search of their next fix. I go for long walks in unfamiliar territory for the thrill of it. Often times I am unarmed with no fear in my heart. I ceased fearing death a long time ago. Fearing death is like expecting the sun to never rise. Whether we like it or not it’s coming. Losing people close to you can bring that effect on a person. Even though I walk through the valley & shadows of death.. I keep a pistol on my person if my spirit feels uneasy. I come in peace, but I promise to God i’m ready to squeeze. If left with no choice.. Rather them then me. The only son seed from my family tree. The leader of the next Generation, the next lineage will all come from me. So I have to keep breathing for the time being. I have to keep dreaming. I have to keep believing. May God’s Grace keeps me safe in the land thats not safe.
Shalom
Don’t you go telling lies
PT 2
The climate is getting warmer. The women are getting tanner. This time of the year, Weekend nights end early dawn. As I light up the leftover spliff from the night before, I begin to ponder on my journey thus far. As I take another hit, trying to cloud the idea of time wasted. I begin to think about my life’s purpose. Where did all the time go? I used to imagine being on Forbes 9 years ago. Now i’m on a 6 hour flight hoping this play goes smoothe once I land.. Theres a lot at stake these days. At times I ask myself is any of this is worth it. I’d be remised if I said I didn’t enjoy what comes with this life that chose me. The constant travel to different cities. The high I get from the city lights once the sun retires for the evening. The potent but brief romances with different women. The exquisite dinning, furthermore expanding my food palette. The connections, & the people I meet along the way that becomes family. All of this is what keeps me fortified. I tried going back to living a regular life. Working a regular job. I F**^ing hated it! & With this precious life that was gifted to us shouldn't be wasted on doing things we hate. You could literally die tomorrow. And that would really suck if you died living a life you hated. So being the natural radical that I am, I decided to roll the dice. & If I don’t like what I get , i’ll roll em twice. & keep rolling them until i’m on a roll! If God grants me a long life i’d hope to settle down one day with a wife a kids. Until then…….
Connecting The Dots
My life is a complex poem, you’d have to read it a few times to truly grasp the concept. The stories, adventures & mistakes are far to rich to take in at once. The thought process are like a sequence of traffic lights, that only shows Green & yellow or Yellow then Green. I haven’t seen a red light in years. My actions are like a Miles Davis song. Wildly free & unorthodox but also melodic and in perfect tune. Reflecting on my collective years ,I know now that I am to afraid to say that I’m afraid. Afraid of wasting great efforts on accomplishments that will later reveal its self as vanity. Afraid of evaporating from the body, while the flesh is still Hungry or Horny. Most importantly afraid of evaporating before I reach my full potential. I would like to meet the Godliest version of myself, In this lifetime. There are still parts of myself that I never met. Through conceptual explorations I am discovering layers of myself I didn’t know exist. Like an onion purchased from a local farmers market there are many layers to oneself. Some layers darker then others. Still bruised from emotional damage from my childhood, I mask it with a smile. Disguising pain with garments of ambition. Using the camouflage of bravery to hide my fears. It’s all a mirage. Running in circles causing me to sweat. If you look closely the sweat is just a tool to hide the tears. They both taste the same. This life is a beautiful illusion. Parts of my journey are inexpressible. You just had to be there to see it for yourself. I’m still connecting the dots, just to find myself back in the center of where it all began.
Dear Summer/ PEACE PIECE
The seasons changing. The kids are back in school.& the young and foolish laughter’s of summer days start to fade. We shared tears of joy we shared tears of pain. We shared moments we’ll never feel again. Truth is I can’t hold on to you forever. If I did you’ll just say forever isn’t long enough. That’s not fair to me because I never met forever. But she’s met me. If I don’t try how could I ever know what I can be. I must let you go summer. Not for you but for me. This my Peace Piece. I cant tell you if angles speak through numbers, But…I seen Three 3’s. So this is it. This my peace piece. I finally got my Piece & now i’m at Peace.
Vessel
I spend majority of my time in nature, reflecting on the innocence & ignorance of my childhood
To find peace of mind, I spend countless of hours walking barefoot in my garden, watering my plants if it hasn’t already rained.
Other Times I play myself in chess to distract myself from thinking so much.
On the 7th days of the week I neglect my phones until sundown. Dedicating that Time to reading the words of the living Spirit of (Abraham, Isaac & Jacob)
In hopes of better understanding The instructions given to my forefathers by The Most High.
On those days I feel The connection with the spirit the most.
In pure stillness i can hear the voice of God speaking to me as the sun shines bright unto my face. I See the glimmers of God every time I Stare Into The eyes of a new born.
Like a seed unaware of its full potential I breakthrough in the light of the Most High
Through The soft winds, I hear whispers of his promises of using my temple as a vessel to fulfill the mission that started before i arrived to this world.
As I am now aware that my life isn’t my life.
Just a Sheer seed designed to yield fruit In hopes in restoring life to whom so ever The spirit wills.
Are "blacks" really African?
We can sit around and debate weather or not if blacks are really Africans. But to save you time & energy, how about I just provide you with the facts. Have you ever asked yourself where the word Africa derives from? No you say? Well .. its actually not a matter of where, But from whom? The word Africa derives from a European man named Scipio Africanus.
Scipio Africanus was a roman general, born in Rome Italy between the time of 236 or 235 BC. Scipio was often regarded as one of the best military commanders of all time. Although considered a hero by the roman people, primarily for his victories against Carthage, Africanus had many enemies. Scipio intended to go to Alkebulan which is now called Africa ,after defeating another general by the name of Hannibal. Historians may disguise Hannibal as a white man. But this is in fact incorrect. Hannibal was born in what we would consider today Tunisia which is located in North Africa. Before being colonized by Europeans, Africa was called Alkebulan. Alkebulan is the oldest & only word of the indigenous origin meaning Garden of Eden or The mother of mankind. Primarily everyone in the Garden of Eden were of the complexion of a darker skinned people, like Black-negros of Today.
So now that we know where the name Africa comes from
The next question should be why this information hasn’t been taught world wide to the decedents of the Garden of Eden? Could it be the fear of a rising consciousness of the black nation once they find out who they really are? Or could it possibly be the fear of a great awakening leading to a revolt, that could happen once Blacks start learning their true history & rekindling of their true strength ? Who knows? Have you ever heard of the great saying “In order to know where your going, you must know where you’ve been” Well this is incredibly true! As a nation how can we expect ourselves to know what type of people we want to become without the overstanding the true knowledge of who we really are? If you believe in history & history repeating itself then now is the perfect time as so called “Black” People to start diving into our history more then ever. I mean think about it for a second. Do you really expect the same people that took you away from your land and everything you knew, to teach you about who you really are?
Here’s one of many prophecies I will now quote from the book of
PSALMS 49 vs 11- Their inward thought is, that their houses/Kingdom shall continue forever, & their dwelling places to all generations ; They call their lands after their own names.
This goes to show you the proof of a certain group of people that will conquer and name lands after their own name.
Both America & Africa was both named after 2 European men. America named after Amerigo Vespucci an Italian merchant. & Scipio Africanus named after a roman general. So since its very evident that darker skinned people are not decedents of the Caucasian race, its kind of ironic how in America the majority of blacks are considered to be African or American. or both.
Understanding Quantum Physics does brings you success!
You may be wondering what does quantum physics has to do with success. Well Trust & believe when i say it most certainly plays an enormous roll in acquiring success & whatever else it is that brings you happiness. Think about it, How can you build a house if you do not know what it is made of & how its constructed? Quantum physics begins to explain how everything in your world comes to be. You are in direct control of your entire physical world, but you may not be aware of this fact. And your lack of awareness of this fact—how the physical matter comes about and your role in it—makes your life appear to you as an occurrence that is out of your control. To some of you it may appear to you as if you are a victim to outside circumstances. But has it ever occurred to you that you are the direct cause of your circumstances? Whether your a successful entrepreneur living in a downtown skyrise or a struggling entrepreneur still trying to reach your big break! The first step to an astounding awakening is to understand what exactly is Quantum physics, & how it works.
So what exactly is Quantum physics? Quantum physics is the study of the building blocks of the universe. For example, Your body is made up of cells. While your cells are made up of molecules, & molecules are made up of atoms, which in turn are made up of subatomic particles like electrons. In simpler terms everything is made up of “large groups” of subatomic particles. Your body, a plant, thoughts, a plane , a planet, light, and everything else are “concentrations” of energy. Knowing how they work is the key to knowing how to recreate yourself and the world around you. But if were speaking in literal terms, a subatomic particle is not a particle in the way that a grain of sand is particle. While atomic & larger particles are objects , or things, subatomic particles are not objects as such. “They are the probability of existence”& at the same time, “multiple existences”. Quantum physics ask the question: What are these subatomic particles and how do they act? Well the subatomic particles are “energy packets” sometimes called quanta. Everything in the universe is made up of energy. And the energy packets are always at our command! The reason they arrange themselves into a luxury car or house, for example is our individual thoughts & collective thoughts. Now Is the link between success & quantum physics starting to make more sense to you? Up until this point, you may been designing your world haphazardly and unconsciously. Now you will awaken and do it deliberately and consciously with direction.
The Journey into the Quantum Field: You are one big “chunk” of energy . And so is everything else. Spirit and mind put this energy together into the physical shapes you are used to seeing .Quantum physics tells us that it is the observing and object that causes it to be there, where and how we observe it. No solid object is actually solid. it is made up of rapidly flashing packets of energy. Billions & Trillions of packets of energy. They flash in and flash out of that space where the “object” is. They do not just stay still and stay there. But you may asking why does a tree or a car look like a solid continues object when we know it is actually a rapidly flashing field of energy? Think of a motion—picture image. When you watch a movie, you see a person walk across the screen smoothly, yet in reality it is just a series of 24 slightly frames passing before you each second so your eyes do not notice the gap between the frames. And each of those frames is a composition of billions of light photons flashing at the speed of light. That is what your world is—a rapid flash that causes an illusion of being “solid” and continues. Once you begin to grasp this concept of what your world really and truly is, you start to understand its true behavior and nature. You can then change your view of it. And with your changed perception, you can change your creation of it. This is the first step to success.
The Backwards Law
What if you would try not to think of a purple cow? This most likely wouldn’t work. The reason being is because as soon as the purple cow appears in our minds , its impossible to get rid of it by consciously not thinking about it.. The more we try to get rid of it, the more it persist. The purple cow in this case represents our general dissatisfaction, which may manifest as negative emotions , Like sadness, stress, anger or boredom. ironically the more we try to be less dissatisfied the more dissatisfied we become. So could it be this inclination to be so invested in becoming free from dissatisfaction trying to be happy, trying to be content is exactly the reason we aren’t?
Here we see the paradox of will power. which is the basis of the law of reverse efforts. Also referred to as The backwards law By Philosopher Allen Watt. The backwards law purposes the more we pursue something the more we achieve the opposite of what we truly want. And in return leaves us feeling dishearten. Or in basic terms ‘the harder we try the less likely we’ll succeed”. On the other hand when we stop trying we’ll have what we want.
So if we want to stop thinking of the purple cow in this case, giving up our struggle and letting our desire to get rid of it dry out is the paradoxical solution. Instead of trying to remove the cow from our thoughts forcefully we let it dissipate by itself by leaving it alone.
I know what you may be thinking. If this is true then how exactly do we get what we want , without trying to get what we want? I know this may sound a little confusing but in This blog post we will explores the backwards law and its paradoxical nature. As well as the cause of our ongoing dissatisfaction in life and how we can empower ourselves from it.
THE BACKWARDS LAW
How can we get what we want without trying to get it? This may seem like and impracticable & absurd way to operate. Especially in a world where we are use to striving and putting effort into acquiring what we desire. Will power is a valuable solution to attain things in the external world. Take becoming wealthy for an example, in the monetary sense it would most likely take effort to attain a certain amount of money to be classified as wealthy. But The Backwards Law isn’t so much about worldly achievement’s, if anything it transcends them. Its about getting what we REALLY TRULY desire. Its a shortcut to the Holy grail, the thing we are all after. But what is it? is it wealth? is it love, is it a long & healthy life? Even though such things are pleasurable, there just inexpensive imitations of the real thing. There are the things we believe that will lead us to what we seek. But as The Backwards Law states, the more we seek the less we find. The more we chase outside circumstances the further we’ll be removed from what we desire. So the question we are left with is.. what do we truly desire? Is it Happiness & money? if so What is happiness? Is it something we acquire from love or material possessions? According to Alan Watts we don’t know what we truly want because we cannot define it.
Why don’t you know what you want? One reason may be that you already have it and may not know it. Sometimes we get so caught up in the “wanting” we forget what is around us. What we desire often appears to present itself in a different form then you expected.
Another reason may be because you don’t know yourself, because you never can.
The human predicament is a collective delusion witch tells us that obtaining external things or changing external circumstances from objects to money to adjustments of the body to changes of scenery will fundamentally release us from our sense of lack. The Backwards Law shows us that the opposite is the case. We feel lacking because of our discontent with current circumstances, the greater our discontent the more we suffer. The greater change we need to be content , the less content we are. Imagine that you set yourself a goal to become a successful entrepreneur , believing that this will make you happy. Setting such a goal not only means that it takes a lot of effort to reach contentment, it also means being so far remove from that goal makes you unhappy because you realize how inadequate you are compared from where you want to be.
“Pursuing something only reinforces the fact that you lack it in the first place. The more you desperately want to be rich, the more poor and unworthy you feel, regardless of how much money you actually make” Mark Manson
Nevertheless we still choose to set the bar high, often times far above our current position. And by doing so our feeling of inadequacy is deep and persisting. And thus we keep escaping what is, into situations that we perceive as more pleasurable. But when we get there we eventually we find ourselves in the same dissatisfied state that we tried to escape. We must remember that every keen pleasure is an error and an illusion. For no attained wish can give lasting satisfaction. “The will” of attaining our desires is why we strive it is why we seek. But following it never satisfies because “the will” itself is the very thing that keeps us from getting what we want. Most people of the eastern philosophy believed that the only way to be truly content is the negation of “the will”, which leaves to a blissful empty state free of striving. In other words stop tryin to get it and you will have it.
How to have what we want
“He does not store, and therefore he has a superabundance; he looks solitary, but has a multitude around him. In his conducting of himself he is easy & leisurely and wastes nothing”
“He does nothing, and laughs at the clever and ingenious. Men all seek happiness, but he feels complete in hi imperfect condition. (Lao Tzu)
Accept imperfection then you will feel perfect. Accept loneliness and you will feel content alone. if Try to be perfect then you will be imperfect. If you try not to be lonely then you will be miserable by yourself. Accepting a negative is a positive experience. But fighting a negative means you suffer twice. When you try to stay on the surface of the water you sink. But when you try to sink you float. You see when you stop trying to be happy we will then be happy , because there is nothing we need beyond “what is”. When we stop trying to be rich then we will live in abundance, because we are content with what we have. And anything on top of that is a bonus. Thus the only way to have what we want is to not to want. That’s what The Backwards Law teaches us.
Hence stop trying to get it & you will have it. Being aware of the workings of The Backward Law doesn’t mean we should never set goals, never have ambitions, or never pursue change. There’s Most like;y an endless amount of reasons why we should make a change & shouldn’t accept the status quo. However The Backward Law does teach us not to be fooled with the idea that the pursuit of leads to happiness. Actually it is quite the opposite. & With that knowledge we are able to enter that blissful state of not wanting a bit more often.
As Alan Watts stated “The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced”.
Why letting go is true wealth
There’s a story about a Chinese recluse named Xu You, who watched a mole drink water from a pond. He realized that the mole, when thirsty, only drinks just what it needed. The mole doesn’t bother itself with more more more because it would disrupt his natural order of things. Unlike humans, who often consume much more than they need. We may not drink water in excess, but we certainly fill more than just our stomachs up with items that just sit around, collecting dust.
Consumption comes with a price as well as resources, labor and other marketing schemes required to keep up with the latest consumers and its competition. Meaning, many people are willing to work themselves into an early grave as they accumulate without ever wondering to themselves, “who am I really buying this for, myself? “I have more, so I am more” is the motto of these individuals obsessed with their worldly possessions with in turn increase their “sense of self”. These are the people who are upgrading their car every year, trading in their iPhone for the latest model and they see this need to “keep up” with the latest trends so they may display their wealthy lifestyles.
There’s a movement in our society known as minimalism. From Maria Kondo’s philosophical approach to decluttering our home and sparking joy to interior designers creating a false sense of the concept with their "minimalistic homes”. So, what exactly is a minimalist? Well, minimalists are people who have turned their backs to overconsumption and decided to live with the essentials and not a thing more. Even though it’s recently been trending in the states, minimalism is a concept that people have been practicing for centuries. There’s a sense of freedom in simplicity, and not possessing much, which many sages and philosophers have experienced time and time again. They saw that possessions don’t define who we are and that this fixation on external things prevents us from experiencing life to the fullest.
Minimalism can be understood in various ways such as living with the bare essentials to reducing clutter. In other words: to keep it simple. However, there are certain forms of minimalism that are a bit extreme. For example, extreme asceticism which is intended towards going below the minimum.
When Prince Siddharta Gautama lived as an ascetic he ate one grain of rice a day so eventually his body grew gauntly thin. It makes sense that you are “consuming” less, however, this practice will eventually lead to self-destruction. Siddharta Gautama concluded that enlightenment is not found by punishing the body. He would then quit this ascetic lifestyle before being the Buddha.
The power behind minimalist living, which is that our baseline happiness is achieved with a minimal amount of resources, and is detached from status and wealth. This can be difficult to accept when our ideology of his culture is capitalistic. This has everything to do with how we collectively value social status. And that social status isn’t measured by one’s virtue or spirituality, but by the car one drives, the house one lives in, the furniture one possesses, and the clothes one wears. What we have seems to determine our place in this capitalistic system.
Breaking down the First Principles
Art By MAYO OSHIN
The First Principles theory is one that was introduced by Aristotle, 2000 years ago. It's helped individuals come up with creative innovations that truly change the world and how we live in it daily. It is a basic assumption that cannot be deduced any further, a first basis from which a thing is known.
Like a scientist, we must start with questions and not assume what we think we know. Instead, we can ask ourselves "What are we absolutely sure is true?" This form of thinking can help individuals develop unique worldviews and solve problems in ways people can't fathom. Take Elon Musk for example, things he has been able to achieve with Tesla & SpaceX most people would never think that someone would be able to achieve it. We can achieve multiple “impossible” things and discover novel, groundbreaking results.
By understanding the basic truths or elements of anything, we can uncover powerful questions that uncover ingenious gems. It's basically thinking in a clever way. Start by knowing the basic materials and build from that. By processing information from different disciplines and building a foundation of facts, we can develop a plan and improve each little piece of the plan which will naturally lead to find better substitutes.
When people envision the future, they project the current form. How many times have you heard of people asking "where are the flying cars?" We have flying cars, we just call them airplanes. Instead of focusing on the function, traveling through air, we focus on the form, which is your basic Toyota, Honda, etc. If we abandon the form and focus on the function, isn't it acceptable to see an airplane as the flying car?
As humans we often live life by analogy, meaning we compare it to something similar because we're familiar with it so we can rest easy. Rather, when we're faced with complex problems, we default to thinking like everybody else. The First Principles thinking is a powerful way to help us break out of this herd mentality and by identifying our current assumptions, breaking down into the basic truths, we can make solutions from scratch.
Many of life's innovative creations have been constructed based upon this First Principles thinking which again is boiling things down to first basic elements of things then substituting for effective solutions for one of the key parts. The best solution is not where everyone is already looking. Be wary of the ideas you inherit. Old conventions and previous forms are often accepted without question and once it's accepted, they set a boundary on creativity.
This difference is one of the key distinctions between continuous improvement and first principles thinking. Continuous improvement tends to occur within the boundary set by the original vision. By comparison, the first principles thinking requires us to abandon our allegiance to previous forms and put the function front and center.
What are you trying to accomplish? What is the functional outcome you are looking to achieve? Optimizing the function and ignoring the form is how you learn to think for oneself.
An excerpt... By unknown Author
Later that night, the fire grew larger. The entire village had been nearly destroyed due to the prolongation of the raining fires. The crop that would have lasted until the winter was gone, two thirds of our cattle gone, two thirds of the village’s livestock also gone. Several lives were lost trying to save their valuables. Either way fate had the final say so that night. The fire had begun to spread north where Ali and the others were. Deka and the other children were still up, the youngest child of Ali had a difficult time sleeping due to the smoke rising behind the mountains. The fire had not yet reached my grandfather and the others.
“Do you smell that?” Deka asked. “FIRE!!” The boy’s scream woke everyone in the hut. Ali’s eldest son saw the line of fire approaching from the southern lands. Even though the fire was miles away, he knew it would spread quickly. Ali and his family lived on the northern parts of the village, on top of the hills. The daunting flames caused distressed to those inside the house, but still they needed to focus on leaving. Tears began to flood my father’s eyes as he saw the damage done to the village he loved. Everybody remained silence as they witnessed from atop the hills, the flames consuming their homes, the village being lost in smoke and ash.
Deka began weeping as she thought of her mama and her soon to be baby brother. “The baby…” she whispered to herself, afraid that someone would hear. “The baby…” she repeated as she looked away from the smoke creeping towards them. Granpapa & my father looked at Deka as the tears to flow down their faces, hitting the ground that had yet been touched by the fires. Accepting the possibility of the entire family being gone. “Who could possibly survive this?” my father thought to himself, as him and the others continue to travel further north of the village.
They were near the village of KAZA, the most northern part of the village. The people were different from the people of KABBA, where our family is from. The people of KAZA were ruthless. They committed all kinds of iniquities a man could imagine. In this village, sons betrayed their fathers and fathers sacrificed their sons. Daughters despised their mothers and mothers abandoned their daughters. Granpapa & the others where aware of this but they had no choice but to keep going.
Is Society in Need For More CONSCIOUS EntrepreneurS?
INNOVATES DAILY LIVES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
For the past several decades major corporations has been given a negative connotation, for being greedy companies that only focuses on maximizing profits, extracting resources from nature as well as from human beings to do so. However, we are now entering the age of conscious capitalism. More and more consumers are now choosing to evolve their spending power, by shopping with companies that are actually taking interest in giving back to communities rather then take & take. This ideology gives the consumer a sense of pride and purpose knowing that there hard eArn money is going to companies that actually take interest in making the world as well as the marketplace better then they found it. We are now seeing more & more companies adopting this method of conscious capitalism. For example, take a company like Tesla. Tesla is literally innovating the blueprint on how we travel. Future generations won’t even know what diesel or gas cars are and electric cars will be the majority. What was acceptable in the past (gas cars) + improvements (electric saves natural resources) . The founder Ellon Musk has even kept his patent open for other vehicle companies to improve and recreate his idea on running vehicles solely on battery electric cars. In about 10 years it wont even be cool anymore to have a car that runs on gas effecting the quality of air we breathe.
Another example is Whole Foods and their organic campaign. More people prefer organic rather than generic. We are living in a time where more then ever people are now more conscious about what they are putting inside there bodies. For years and years major food chain companies have focused on making food convenient & cheap, using process foods, so that it would be hard for the consumer to resist the gratification of a nutritious void meal. As times goes on the everyday consumer has come to see that the long term effects of this cheap & processed food takes a fatal toll on their health such as obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, just to name a few. That is why so many people are seeking better alternatives like Whole Foods because they know exactly where their food comes from & what their food is made out of and in the process saving millions of lives. Imagine a world with more organic food chains. this would most likely cut diseases in half for the future generations enabling them to be happier & healthier.
GIVING BACK TO COMMUNITIES
As a conscious Entrepreneur one of the very first things we must become aware of is the full impact we have on our environment as well as our communities. We must also take responsibility of the role we have in the marketplace and familiarize ourselves with our communities. By immersing yourself in communities and surrounding yourself with people whos paths align with yours, the more people you encounter that’ll share a similar vision as yourselves maintaining a sense of purpose by serving to those people.
Take a company like Patagonia for example. Most people know them for their cozy outdoor wear. But did you know that Patagonia gives 1% of all sales to environmental organizations globally? Yup that’s right in fact Patagonia is a founding member of Fair labor association and makes all their products from sustainable or recycled materials. Another great example is TOMS. A well known shoe company that brought the idea of the one for one model. Their shoes are made from sustainable materials, and the company emphasizes transparency in its supply chain, so they are staying true to their word.
PROVIDE JOB OPPERTUNITIES
Another reason why conscious entrepreneurs are needed is to continue the expansion of jobs. For example their are more driving opportunities then ever before. Companies like Uber& Lyft provide the opportunities to individuals that allow the freedom to create their own work schedule. People don’t have to settle for less than what they really want out of life.
The Creative Perspective
Growth naturally requires us to endure discomfort. As human beings, we tend to stay comfortable in autopilot, unaware or afraid of what else could be if we were to operate differently. Some individuals undergo circumstances that “forces” them to look at the world, themselves and their relationship to others differently while some have a moment of clarity and consciously decide to improve their life. After seeing how hard my parents worked every day never taking a vacation for themselves only to receive just enough for our basic needs, I knew I could never live like that. I consider this the safe route most individuals make because of all the uncertainly that pursuing our own ambition, talents, and dreams comes with. Every perspective is enacted, meaning you must do something to see something and by selling chips and candy at 14, I saw that money could be made by thinking differently and without clocking in. I’m here to share with you how I was able to overcome those obstacles and demonstrate the power of perspective.
First, we must understand what perspective is and how it relates to ambition. Perspective is taking the time to understand what the world looks like from another person’s point of view, interpreting a situation and reacting to said situation accordingly. If we never develop the ability to empathize or understand, we may never get any returning clients or customers. Artists tend to stick to one discipline, either an oil painter or acrylics, sometimes creating a false sense of superiority because they “specialize” in this or that. If artists from multiple disciplines came together and shared with one another their work, isn’t it possible that a collaboration or admiration towards another type of artistry could emerge? Well, as someone who expresses their creativity in various disciplines, I’ve come to understand multiple perspectives and seen how integrating different points of views affect both my life and my career.
No person is designed the same way, yet, we must learn over time how to accept those who may look, think or believe differently than our own. To let go of the idea that my perspective is the only way, the right way should be the first thing people do if they want to journey towards the unknown path. Openness is essential as it has allowed us to create a company that goes beyond content and merchandise but to inspire a community of creatives by providing examples of accomplished innovators so they can see what’s possible. A lifestyle that is consciously created and tailored to our unique self. Creativity is something not taught formally in school and educates kids on how to follow rules, memorize and regurgitate information and punishes those who want to do things differently even if the answer is the same.
